Today I have Justine Marjan who is my incredible hairstylist in LA joining me on my blog. Since we had a ton of people ask about how she cut my hair, I thought we'd share how you guys can achieve this look with your own hairdresser too.
I was ready for a change and I cannot tell you how EASY my hair is to maintain now since I cut it. It feels incredibly healthy (especially since I cut off all of my hair that was bleached while I was blonde), is so manageable and the time I take getting ready has been cut in half! Some days all I need to do is run my hands through it when I wake up.
My favourite products to use are the OUAI volume shampoo and conditioner to wash my hair and usually only try to wash it every two days unless I have a ton of product (or sweat haha) in my hair. I also love the OUAI texturizing spray and hairspray to give it really good volume and body.
If you’re feeling brave like Ellie and ready to embrace short hair, ask your stylist for something that sits above the shoulders, is slightly shorter in the back, and has lots of texture and movement. I used regular shears to take up the length, then layered with a razor for tons of movement. Ellie likes to wear her hair flipped to either side, so we needed something that was symmetrical and looked great both ways. She has such natural thick hair, so getting tons of body isn’t hard. To copy her look, follow the steps below:
1. Prep damp hair with Tresemme Repair and Protect 7 Spray and Oribe Thickening Spray then blow-dry with a YS Park Round Brush and ghd air blowdryer.
2. When hair is dry, flip hair to the opposite side you want to see if styled on and use a ghd platinum flat iron on 1 inch sections in an s-pattern to create waves. This is easy to do with a little practice. Just bevel the iron up as you drag down the strand, then bevel it under, and
continue down the length of the hair.
3. Spray Bumble and bumble Dryspun Finish Spray throughout, especially at the root. Then work a small amount of Fatboy Sea Salt Pomade throughout hands and massage and scrunch into hair, flipping hair to the opposite side.
4. Finish with a light mist of OUAI Medium Hairspray for hold.
